Classes - Some after school Enrichment Classes are offered through outside vendors for a fee. Parents sign up and pay the vendors directly. Please check out the Muirlands After School Classes

OTHER PROGRAMS
Middle School Sports - San Diego Unified School district offers sports programs through Middle Athletics Department. Please click here for the latest information. Fall athletics tryouts begin on Monday, August 24th. Sign-up here by Aug 19th.
Specific dates, times, locations for tryouts will be shared as soon as they are available.
Tryouts for Fall Sports 🏀🏃
This fall, Muirlands will offer Girls Basketball, Boys Basketball, and Track & Field!
Students who plan to try out must complete the Fall 2026 School Sports Application by Wednesday, August 19th (tomorrow!).
Tryouts will begin next week:
Boys Basketball: Eli Crevelone (LJHS basketball coach) will coach our boys basketball team along with Paul Baranowski. They will also coach our JV boys basketball teams.

Tryouts will be held on Wednesday, August 26, and Thursday, August 27, from 3:15–4:45 p.m. on our blacktop courts.
Girls Basketball: Matthew Butcher is returning as our Girls Basketball head coach.

Tryouts will be held on the blacktop on Wednesday, August 26, from 1:20–2:50 p.m., and Friday, August 28, from 3:10–4:40 p.m.
Boys & Girls Track: Ben Martin from LJHS will coach our boys and girls track teams.

Tryouts will be held on our turf field on August 24, 25, and 26 from 3:30–4:50 p.m.
Muirlands Science Olympiad Team
The Muirlands Science Olympiad Team is recruiting student competitors and event coaches for the 2026-2027 competition season. Supported by the Muirlands Foundation, our volunteer-run program prepares students for the San Diego Science Olympiad Tournament. With 23 events spanning Biology & Medicine, Chemistry, Earth & Space Science, Engineering, and Physics, it’s a great opportunity for students to explore diverse scientific disciplines and work collaboratively to tackle advanced STEM topics. Training is expected to begin in September or early October.

🎭 New Partnership with La Jolla Playhouse!
We are excited to announce a new partnership between Muirlands Middle School and La Jolla Playhouse! Through this collaboration, we look forward to expanding opportunities for our students to experience the performing arts, build confidence, and develop their creativity through meaningful learning experiences. They do not need to be enrolled in the Theater Elective to participate and sign ups will occur in January 2027.
We are thrilled to partner with one of our community’s premier arts organizations and look forward to sharing more details about the opportunities this partnership will bring to Muirlands students throughout the school year.
